I "sounded" to radio [i.e., recorded (Ben-Gurion was proposing a new Hebrew verb - based on the word for "sound" - to describe the act of making an audio recording)] my Rosh Hashanah greetings for the broadcast (on Saturday evening).

       - Margoliot (one of Lipsky's men) arrived in the country. He conveys on behalf of [Ed] Flynn, the Democratic "boss" in New York, that Truman promised to recognize [Israel] de jure, to grant a loan, and to [express] support as early as mid-October - if he can overcome the State Department pressure, and then, possibly, he'll invite me to the White House to inform me of this.

       - Last night Natan Friedman-Yellin [LEHI commander] was captured, while planning to escape with the help of a young woman who apparently arrived for this purpose from Czechoslovakia.
